Towns popular with holiday makers offer the best bang-for-your-buck for those looking for affordable real estate,
according to realestate.com.au.The website's annual Buyers' Market list - of suburbs with a more affordable pricepoint, houses taking a longer time to sell and fewer people searching in the area, show Moonta Bay as the top place to buy.
The top 10 list also includes coastal areas such as Wallaroo and Encounter Bay, and Riverland towns including Loxton and Murray Bridge.
Real Estate Institute of South Australia chief executive Greg Troughton said many of the suburbs on the list are popular for people on holidays.
Some of those places would certainly be great places to live, but more importantly a lot of them are holiday destinations as well," he said.
"They are where the affordable homes are without the pressure of a lot of purchasers.
"A lot of the towns could be great for a second home or a holiday home, or also for retirees because not only are the homes affordable but there's enough infrastructure around."
